Possibility 1: Graphics FF8 as an RPG is totally worthless. But as a graphics demo, is beyond comprehension. Who would believe the playstion could produce graphics of this caliber. It's power to shock the audience with CG sequences and and Calvin Klein like opening may have caused the player to believe that if the graphics were that good, then the whole game must be astounding, right? Possibility 2: Geneology Final Fantasy Eight is fortunate enough to have those first two words on it's title. The line of Final Fantasy's has generally been a quality family of games. So, going into FF8 you already have the forgone conclusion that it's just as amazing as it's predecessors, but better, because higher number = good, right? This idea has been planted in your brain by the media, other people, and even yourself. It's not your fault. But ignorance, refusing to form an independent opinion, is. Possiblity 3: Peer Pressure Assuming of course that you don't succumb to Possibilities 1 or 2 (which is unlikely) most of your friends, family members, and significant others already have. Countering a positive opinion is difficult, but nearly impossible when it is held by a large number of people (ignorant though they may be) who you know and respect. So psychologically you convince yourself that the majority is right, and you, lonly you are wrong. And after long enough you start to believe it. |
